FOR SALE:

Film Slitters for Subminiature formats

These are film slitters (sometimes called film strippers) for slitting subminiature format film strips from 35mm film in cassette or bulk. The "Sliding Block" film slitter is available in models to suit the several Sub-Miniature formats.  It is constructed of seasoned hardwoods, and consists of the Base, the Slitter Block, and the "Start" & "Stop" Blocks.

In use, the 35mm film is unrolled onto the Base, and held in place by the "Start" & "Stop" Blocks. A strip of paper is then laid on top of the 35mm film to protect the film from being scratched by the "Sliding Slitter Block".  The Slitter Block (with blades) is placed on the paper/film, and slid from the "Start" Block to the "Stop" block to perform the slit and control the length. The Slitter Blades cut through the paper and film. The slit film is then cut to length by means of scissors - in the provided measured slots in the Base.

The Slitter Block consists of several hardwood segments, and either two or three (depending on model) double-edged razor blades The blocks and blades are aligned on brass pins, and the entire Block assembly is held together with two machine screws and wingnuts (for easy disassembly and blade change). The blades are positioned so that only the sharp corners are used. Each of the blades has four corners, so they can be  filpped to make a fresh sharp corner -- after several slits have been made.  It is advisable to flip the blades BEFORE they get dull. The blade cost is so low as to be insignificant. Since only the corners of the blades are used, the very thrifty can even use them for shaving after their slitting days are over.

Some of the most popular models are:

1. Minox from 35mm. This model slits two parallel Minox width film strips from 35mm film. A typical 36 exp. 35mm cassette will yield four 36 exp Minox length strips, plus two shorter strips.

2. Minox from 16mm. This model will slit one Minox width film strip from 16mm film. It is primarily used to create Minox loads from the films that are only available in 16mm size, (microfilm & motion picture film)

3. 16mm from 35mm. This model will slit one 16mm wide film strip from 35mm film. The resulting film strip in unperforated, so it will not work if your camera needs perforations, like the Rollie 16.  A typical 24 exp 35mm cassette will yield two 16mm (Minolta length) loads, and a 36 exp 35mm cassette will yield three 16mm (Minolta length) loads.

The above described models are each priced at $50.00 plus $7.00 S&H (US).

Those who use both Minox and 16mm cameras may order a Combination Model Slitter which will slit Minox, and also 16mm film from 35mm. This model consists of a single Slitter Base, and TWO Slitter Blocks. This model is priced at $80.00 plus $7.00 S&H (US).
